I don’t get the purpose of an open bolt single shot. There’s no magazine in this pistol, and it isn’t fully automatic, so there is no reason for an open bolt.

Firing from an open bolt reduces accuracy due to the bolt movement prior to firing. The only reason to fire from an open bolt is when in fully automatic and there is a danger of cookoff inherent in the design.

Some rifles are open bolt auto/ closed bolt semi-auto selectable.

Open bolt guns are extremely easy to make. There are far fewer parts than any other home made type gun that uses modern ammunition. An open bolt gun automatically ejects the fired case, reducing reloading time, and important plus for a single shot pistol.

bolts open, pull the trigger, bolt stays open, drop another round in.
a fixed firing pin open bolt can be a bit lighter I imagine than one with a spring loaded firing pin designed for semi use.
