The Olympics will not allow him to compete, if this is proven. It may be okay personally, but that doesn’t stick with the committee that will decide whether his usage of the substance that he is inhaling amounts to gaining unfair advantage.

Those were the exact words I said. The "kid" has spent the past years doing nothing but training, let him have some fun. But according to the paper, if this is proven it is an automatic 4 year Olympic suspension which means he can't compete in 2012, thus probably ending his career.

Sucks to be him. I truly do feel sorry for him, he seems like the real deal.

No kidding. LOTS of people of all ages smoke pot. I know many. Though I don't indulge myself, I could care less if anyone else does. If they would legalize it, we could tax it and have plenty more money for lots more bailout bills.

Phelps has ADHD and swimming has pretty much been his “thing”. My husband and I said after the Olympics we hope that he has someone who watches him, because severe ADHD is notorious for bad decision making - here you have a young man who has everyone throwing themselves at him. He’s been on the cover of tabloids doing this party hardy stuff for months now, actually ever since right after the Olympics.

I hope it doesn’t cause him to lose his career.
