A judge in Arizona sentenced US rapper DMX to three months in prison after he was found guilty on drug, theft and animal cruelty charges.
"I'm not sentencing DMX today, I'm sentencing Earl Simmons," Maricopa County Superior Court Commissioner Phemonia Miller said during the hearing. "I don't know DMX. Mr. Simmons, it's time to do something different. What you have been doing is not working."
DMX had given authorities in Phoenix a false name and tax file number to avoid paying a hospital bill. The charge of animal cruelty was raised after authorities found 12 neglected pitbulls and the cadavers of three others while searching the rapper’s home.
Simmons was arrested in Miami while attempting to purchase cocaine and marijuana and also fell into the long arm of the law again in December after missing a court date.
Simmons’ wife, Tashera, who said she has known Simmons since they were 10 years old, talked about how Simmons was a hero to his four children. But she also took him to task, saying, “In some crazy way, he’s getting a reality check.
“I saw him gain the world, and in the process lose his soul at the same time.”
3 months at Camp Arpaio should clear this thug’s head a bit. Unfortunately his stay won’t run through the scorching summer months.
