Obama's current annual salary is $400,000.

Does that mean he is one of those who will be forced to share the wealth?

Yup, right after there's a pay cap on DC.

Like that's really gonna happen.

They (DC) sure like telling other people how much they can make but they don't seem so keen when it comes to their own pay.

I'd even go so far as to suggest that they shouldn't get paid anything until unemployment is below a certain point and unless there's a balanced budget.

I'm not holding my breath.

What about “no bonuses” untill they pay back the loans they took from the government?

A disincentive to take bailouts from taxpayers. Sounds like common-sense to me. Conservatives should love this idea. Amazingly, most here are against it.

That works great ... until the government FORCE companies to take bailouts, even small ones.

A pay cap would keep these sleazy CEOs from taking our money, and that makes it worthwhile. There are other ways to survive, if they have a reason to find them, and self-interest is the best possible reason.

I don't mind if a good manager makes $50M or even $500M a year in a bonus. I do mind if a company is so poorly managed that socialists like Obama/Pelosi feel a need to divert $1,550,000,000,000 in taxpayer dollars to the company - and the executives get a bonus for a level of mismanagement that results in that kind of claimed "need". If their performance really justifies that kind of a bonus, then they must not need my tax dollars [actually, whether or not their performance justifies the huge bonus, they have no right to my tax dollars, but we are losing that battle unless the Senate RINOs hold firm].

Yes, Senator, please do tell me how much I am allowed to make. Why not just make the minimum wage the only wage that you can earn (except of course if you work for the government)?

"no employee would be allowed to make more than the president of the United States"

My God. It's a true command and control economy with the 'dear leader' at the top. You shouldn't be for this in any respect. The bailouts were a horrible idea, and having the federal government go futher by determining the salary of publicly traded companies and link it to the salary of the president is absolutley chilling to me.

You can't use taxpayer money to pay out 18 billion dollars in bonuses."

Reform your behavior!

Precisely.

And every conservative-minded person should be FOR such a bill.

I’d prefer to see term caps for members of Congress.

The government needs to stop pouring money into failing companies. I do not want the government to have any say of how much I get paid.

If I run a successful business I should enjoy the spoils and if I run the business into the ground then I should suffer the consequences.

If you start limiting compensation, you limit the motivation to grow business and the need to hire more help.

“Yes, Senator, please do tell me how much I am allowed to make.”

THIS ONLY APPLIES TO COMPANIES TAKING BAILOUT MONEY FROM TAXPAYERS!
