Pandy has a good point.

Having a teaching degree doesn’t automatically qualify one to teach. They are just ordinary folks who pursued a teaching degree, who also make up many parents who are not qualified to teach.

And there are plenty of parents who are more than capable of teaching who chose not to.

Practically speaking, home schooling isn’t a viable alternative to public schooling. That simple. Either two incomes are needed to keep the family going, or one/both parents don’t have the educational background necessary to teach above third grade level, let alone middle school.
