I'm all for broadening the base, but if he walks away from the current GOP platform, he'll drive millions of social conservatives out of the party. I'll be one of 'em and I suspect Gov. Palin won't be too thrilled either.
Similarly, if he embraces gun restrictions as he has in the past, same results...millions will walk away from the party.

It’s too early to tell if Steele is going to win. I read somewhere that Duncan’s supporters are more likely to move to Dawson once it’s clear that he can’t win. It’s not over by a long shot.
Don't worry it's not really a policy making position. It's more of a candidate recruitment, fundraising, spokesman type position. He'll be a heck of a spokesman.
