impeached and convicted in the senate. Not in a criminal case.

Indicted.

They are supposed to vote now on forever barring him from ever holding elected office in Illinois again.

House impeaches; Senate convicts.

You can be impeached, as Clinton was, but not convicted and still hold office.

Blago was out the minute that the senate convicted.

He may have claimed that he was denied due process but an impeachment proceeding is not a criminal trial. Not the same rules.

Due process means you can’t be rushed off to prison without a trial.

Being impeached is not the same thing as being imprisoned.

But I’m sure that if I’ve erred in my thinking, some lawyers out there in Freeperland will correct me quickly.

Impeached or convicted?

To remove a government official from office, first you impeach that official, then you convict him.

Impeachment + Conviction = Removal
