NBC Rejects Pro-Life Super Bowl Ad on Obama and Abortion

Washington, DC -- NBC is coming under fire from pro-life advocates for rejecting a television commercial a pro-life group hoped to run during the Super Bowl. The ad shows a beautiful picture of an unborn child during an ultrasound and asks what would happen if President Barack Obama had been a victim of abortion.

The commercial, a popular one in recent weeks within the pro-life movement, is sponsored by the pro-life Catholic group Fidelis and its CatholicVote web site.

The second most objectionable thing to the pro-abortion camp is a clear image of a healthy human fetus in utero.

Well I wasn’t all that interested in this overhyped game anyway but now I’m not watching for sure. The ‘ell with ‘em.

I heard them on the radio last night, talking about how Super Bowl ad revenue is down. I guess NBC can’t be hurting THAT much, however, if they can afford to turn down this ad.

I hate abortion. It's murder of an innocent.

I really don't like the ad. It's a pro abortion ad, IMO, as much as if Pol Pot was the "surprise reveal."

"and asks what would happen if President Barack Obama had been a victim of abortion."

I'd like to answer that, but it might make people on here upset.

We need to hire some N.Y. private detectives to sniff out all the mucho dirt on these dirt bags at NBC. And they had better be filing AND paying ALL their due taxes! ! !

If you have seen the ad and think it is pro-abortion then you have a screw loose somewhere. It may be the best done, least provocative, most effective pro-life ad I have every seen. It is basically telling all the pro abortion/pro Barry people, often one in the same, that if his mother had followed their advice he wouldn’t be your president today. Talk about exploding a small thermonuclear device under their unwanted children who will have a tough life have no right to be born idea, wow.

I think the fact that NBC, who has admitted ad revenue is down this year for the SB, is refusing to run it speaks volumes about it’s potential effectiveness.

The Superbowl was just as justified rejecting this ad as they were for rejecting the PETA ad.

"Say it anyway and make me laugh."

If I said what I really felt, there might be like 30 replies in this thread to me branding me some type of hate monger. I'll just say that if he had been a victim of abortion then all the gunstores across America would not have enjoyed this great surge in sales the past couple of months.

It’s NBC’s choice, not the NFL or the Superbowl.

The article points out that the fact that NBC entertained the thought of a airing a political advocacy ad, such as PETA’s, but was ultimately rejected because of the sexual references, tells you all you need to know. There is nothing gross or objectionable about this ad, so why will the not run it? The answer is obvious - NBC has an agenda, and the pro-life movement runs diametrically opposed to it.

While I see minor problems with the ad, I think it’s very positive over all. My main objection is that it fails to emphasize that all human life is valuable and sacred, in and of itself, and not dependent on what a person may achieve, or what may be his perceived “value”. There is no “life not worth living”. But then, by its very nature (limited time), it cannot do everything.

I am quite disappointed that this ad will not run. I have terminated both my cable TV and satellite TV subscriptions. Plenty of other reasons to do that, but this was the last straw. I somewhat enjoy football, and look forward when I can again watch it.

It’s NBC’s choice, not the NFL or the Superbowl.

Nonsense. The NFL didn't get to where it is today by making its centerpiece a platform for political advocacy.

The NFL needs this controversy like it needs another bare nipple.

The Superbowl was just as justified rejecting this ad as they were for rejecting the PETA ad.

Nonsense. There is no equivelancy at all.
The ad showed a baby in utero and stated that a single mother living in poverty, abandoned by her child’s birth father, gave birth to the pres of the US. Nothing more is said.
NBC’s refusal to run the ad demonstrates the absolute moral corruption of that corporation. The ad does not mention abortion, does not have a single negative word in it and praises the life of the president.

I fear not too many people will be following your lead, but they can do something else.

They can videotape the game and when watching the videotape game, they can skip through all the other commercials that NBC is allowing. Or they can turn off the volume during commercials in the live telecast. Or, if the have PIP, they can watch something else on the primary screen during commercials. I plan to switch to another channel every time a commercial comes on. And, I will be watching another channel during the complete half-time proceedings. Hopefully the ratings companies are able to determine, on a commercial by commercial basis, how many people actually watched. If there are cute commercials that I missed, I'm sure I'll be catching them another time on another program.

I would love to watch the Superbowl but I will not since NBC is broadcasting it.
