I spoke to a friend last night who hails from the left side of the asile. A nostly logical man lacking the rabid hatred shown by the left. He asked me why did every Republican voted against the package. I said simply, If this package works you guys can claim all the glory and bask in a complete victory, however should it fail, the MSM will not be able to provide cover for you guys. You will loose control of both houses in 2010 and the chosen one will be back in the friendly confines of Chicago ready to resume his job as community organizer in 2012.
Did you ask him point-blank if he felt running a $2 TRILLION deficit this year was the right way to heal the economy long-term?
That is the question to make the liberals ... sweat/ eyes open, etc.
What you told him was correct. There is a nice part of the article that made me smile.
“This is not the first time the Republicans in the House have unanimously voted against a needed economic package. The last time, in 1993, when Democrats voted for tough action to clean up after Republican economic mess, not a single Republican voted for the legislation that produced record surpluses and a balanced budget.”
1993 - ah to remember that time. The next election brought us the Republican revolution. So I’m upbeat that, indeed, history just might repeat itself.
