I just got a call from a “Ron” in NH, and I had totally forgotten what “Alarm & Muster” was all about, but it sounded like something that I would have signed up for.

After he explained what it was all about, I asked if there was anyone I was supposed to call. NOpe; apparently I’m the only contact in Maine so far.

A little while later I got around to checking the e-mail and there was a message from him:

“-——Original Message-——

To: ronxxx@xxxxx.net
Subject: Re: Test of Call Tree

Ron wrote:

” Hello All,

This is a test of the Alarm and Muster call tree. As soon as you get
this mail please respond back to me and your state leader if you have one.

State leaders please contact your people ASAP and send me your
report when done.

Thanks and good luck,

Ron O.”

To which I responded:

“Hi Ron; Got your phone call before I got to this e-mail.

Who is the “State Leader” for Maine? Do you have one? Do you have a website?
Are you affiliated with a particular Citizen’s Militia group?

“Uncle Jaque”
ME

To which he responded:

“Hi Uncle Jaque,

No, we do not have a state leader for Maine. Would you like the job? There is a web site, Alarm and Muster, which you can get to by just typing it in your browser. Alarm and muster stands by itself, but many members are involved with other groups as well. If you are interested in the State
Leaders position, I will put you in contact with our leadership.

Best regards,

Ron”

Running said search I indeed did come up with the home page, and immediately remembered being there some time ago as soon as I saw the wonderful photos of the landing eagle.

So I e-mailed a reply;

“Oh yeah!; Here it is: Alarm & Muster :: Welcome

Now I remember being there and that’s where I probably signed up. Duh!

I’ll have to read up on it some more and think about that “leadership” thing.
Don’t know as if I’m much of a leader, but by the looks of things I wouldn’t end up leading a massive horde of enthusiastic Patriots any time soon. More likely than not I’d just be leading myself... which can be a challenge in itself!

So at least I guess we can assume that “Alarm & Muster” is still a more or less viable entity, but apparently I’m about “It” for the State of Maine.

I guess I’ll just stand by and wait to see / hear what else might develop.

Oh; about those CB radios; yes, they can very easily “jam” them, and any other form of electronic communication as well if they want to.

“They” (and God only knows who “They” are) if at all militarily sophisticated, can also precisely locate any source of transmission pretty quickly and if it isn’t a broadcast that they condone or have given permission for, they can make things pretty hot for whoever is broadcasting in a hurry.

If a nuke is set off high enough to spread an EMP over a wide distance, then none of our electronic conveniences will work ever again - to include computers, radios, cell phones, or motor vehicles which, since about 1968 or so, have relied on computer chip control modules - which would be fried by an EMP after which you ain’t goin’ nowhere with it.

Apparently our military (and who knows who else’s) now have directional EMP weapons that can selectively disable electronics from quite a long distance away.

Most CBs have a very limited range to begin with, and are very vulnerable to natural interference such as sunspot activity affecting the ionosphere or “Skip”.
Your best bet for keeping in touch if any radios are working will probably be 11 meter, or HAM radio.
Any group of Survivalists should include at least one licensed and experienced HAM Operator. Setting up a parallel calling tree of HAM Operators in various states might not be a bad idea, as when our infrastructure crashes telephones or e mail won’t be an option.

A lot of HAM enthusiasts have generator back up power supplies so can still operate off the grid at least for a while.

Yep. I was the first one to sign up from MN, so I was by default the MN PoC.

We have no sponsorship, no real leadership, and only the loosest organization. We are a Patriot's Alert service. Not a militia.

"One if by Land, Two if by Sea..." Paul Revere's... Every one of us.

There may be Washington's and the like in our membership, but leading the battle is not the purpose of the A&M.

Anything to get the word out. Phone, email, CB, HAM, semiphore, wholephore, smoke signals... Whatever it takes.

We could grow to be more, but right now we're just doing the call tree and keeping a weather eye on the horizon.

Had a Call Tree test last night which is why you were contacted.

Welcome aboard!
