I'm thinking this was written to enhance the coffers of the NRA through new memberships--but that's just me.
Of course. Where do you think Adams, Revere, Dawson and that bunch got their intelligence on the plans and movements of the Regulars? Remember many, especially the officers, were billeted in private homes (That's why we have the Third Amendment!). The ladies of the house, and the servants too, had big ears. They also had tongues that wagged to the patriot leadership. General Gage's own wife was American born, and she may have provided the critical intelligence.
Many of them were members of the Daughters of Liberty
Then there was Dame Batherick of Lexington, aka Mother Batherick.
One Old Yankee Woman:
Meanwhile, word got out that General Percy's supply train was moving in advance of his men, and without much protection. A dozen older men of Menotomy -- too old for the regular militia -- set up to surprise the wagons in the center of their town. The wagons arrived and the old men demanded surrender. When their command went unheeded, they opened fire on the wagons, killing soldiers and horses. The survivors ran off, abandoning their weapons and eventually surrendering in a field to an old woman, Mother Batherick. She delivered her prisoners to a minute man captain and told them, "If you ever live to get back, you tell King George that an old woman took six of his grenadiers prisoners." The story did get back and one English paper asked, "If one old Yankee woman can take six grenadiers, how many soldiers will it require to conquer America?"
Mother Batherick was *armed*, with a musket.

I'm an NRA life member, but I didn't get around to doing that until after Zero was elected. I'm still a GOA Life Member and I still give occasionally to the JPFO and the SAF. My wife and MiL are both going to be taking firearms courses here soon, as they don't like us guys having all the fun. After which, I'll probably try and sign 'em both up for both the NRA and the SAS.
The idea is, "do something". Even if it's only help set up a warning system that "here it comes".
