The problem is that Republicans have moved TOO FAR to the middle and need to MOVE BACK to their conservative base. If McCain had been able to move the base like Bush did in 2000 and 2004, then it would have been a much tighter race.

Doubt it, McCain pissed away all his trust and belief a long time ago.

maybe.

2000 was even at 50 million each more or less

2004 had Bush at 62 million and Kerry at 58 million

2008 had Mac at 58 million and Obama at almost 67 million

GOP support dropped sharply and Dem support spiked.....Obama did peel off mushy middle folks who voted GOp and the demographics have gone south for conservatism
