I've seen them twice in the past 3 years at a small outdoor arena at a local Indian casino. What an incredible show.

I grew up in Jax, FL in the same neighborrhood. I've always been a fan.

RIP Billy.

Only Gary Rossington and Artimus Pyle remain from of the crash that took the lives of Ronnie Van Zant, Steve and Cassie Gaines and road manager Dean Kilpatrick on October 20, 1977.

Ronnie Van Zant is/was and will always be LYNYRD SKYNYRD.

Everybody in that band DIED in that swamp over 30 years ago....Allen Collins, Leon Wilkeson, Billy Powell...all had problems with "THEIR DEMONS" and suffered through years of drug and alcohol abuse....Artimus Pyle supposedly abused his own kids..( the kids later said he didn't do anything) and Gary Rossington has battled alcoholism.

A couple of the roadies have either killed themselves..It is one of the saddest stories in rock and roll...They acquire new guitarist Steve Gaines...He BREATHES NEW LIFE into the band...with his guitar playing/singing and songwriting...the album "STREET SURVIVORS" comes out on Monday October 16, 1977 and that Thursday night their private plane RUNS out of fuel en route to Baton Rouge La...29 people were aboard...It killed the 2 pilots and the 4 others...But they all died in one way or another.

RIP Billy Powell on the piano...

RIP.

I fell in and out of love with LS at different times in my life and the current version touring borders on the fraudulent but pure talents like Powell are always entertaining to watch and listen to.

Rock was not my genre of music as a teen however it was and still is the Classic Rock of KVs Dads so I learned to like it in our young dayz together.

KVs Dad and Sisters came up to see KV last year and so funny they brought gifts of Harley Davidson Sweatshirts and Lynard Skynard Tees.

KV genetically picked up some of that Southern Boy attitude but his genre is Southern Gospel.

One time I saw them before the crash at the Spectrum in Philly. People kept lighting fires on the floor and it got so out of hand the opening band played with the stadium lights on. I believe it was Edgar Winter who was hot at the time too.

Think I saw the original band 3x. Never saw them after..

RIP, all y'all

Saw them once in the mid-70s in Louisville, at the Convention Center (later known as Louisville Gardens). They were drunk, swilling Black Jack from the bottle, fighting with each other on stage, etc. It was horrible.

Saw them a couple years later at Freedom Hall in Louisville. We were literally right up front, leaning on the wall, 10-15’ from the closest band members. A top 5 show ever for me, they were just great.

Ronny would say “Billy Powell on the piano” and Billy
would just ware it out!

Goodbye Billy Powell, I'm going to miss you.

One of the best to ever play rock and roll on the keyboards.
