Obama must apologise for crimes against Iran: Ahmadinejad

TEHRAN (AFP) – Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad demanded on Wednesday that President Barack Obama apologise for past US "crimes" against the Islamic republic, after the new US leader extended a hand of diplomacy to Tehran.

The firebrand Iranian leader also called on Washington to withdraw its troops from across the world as a proof of Obama's promised policy of change.

"You were standing against the Iranian people in the past 60 years," Ahmadinejad said in an address in the western region of Khermenshah that was broadcast on state television.

"Those who speak of change must apologise to the Iranian people and try to repair their past bad acts and the crimes they committed against Iran," he said, suggesting it could be a condition for any talks between the archfoes.

In an interview on Monday with Al-Arabiya television, Obama promised to lay down a framework for his policy towards Iran, whose leaders have long regarded the United States as the "Great Satan".

"As I said in my inauguration speech, if countries like Iran are willing to unclench their fist, they will find an extended hand from us," Obama said.

"It is very important for us to make sure that we are using all the tools of US power, including diplomacy, in our relationship with Iran."

But Ahmadinejad on Wednesday launched a fresh tirade against the United States and said he expected "deep and fundamental" change from Obama.

And so it starts.

Our enemies have accessed that Obama is weak.

I hope he sees the error in his ways. Maybe this will embarass him into acting like the leader of the free world, instead of a communist.

They see Obama as being weak and sympathetic to Muslims. I would too, if I was Imanutjob.

Right out of the box, the nascent obama regime is branded as “criminal” by the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Everybody’s a critic.

(Sly chuckle)

If this doesn't, I don't know what would.

The Iranian Regime knows they have nothing to fear from Obambi. They will blow hot and cold for the purpose of jerking him along, for as long as possible.

Our enemies sense a “weakling” and our friends see one. We are so screwed.

Obama will kowtow to the Muslims until his own ego is affronted, then he’ll over react. Ahmadinejad cannot function without the U.S. as an antogonist and will simply push Obama until he snaps. Iran doesn’t want to warm relations with the U.S. any more than Osama Bin Laden does; he needs the threat of U.S./Israeli hostilities to keep his political ship afloat in Iran. The quicker Obama figures this out, the better.

One wonders if, like the Gitmo order, Obama acts or speaks first without thinking a couple of steps ahead to the possible consequences. Anyone who is even a casual observer of Iran could have anticipated this response. Why bring it on, making us look weak to the rest of the Arab world while Iran verbally throws shoes at us?

Remember when the bodies of Saddam Hussein, as well as brothers Uday and Qusay, were shown for the Muslim world to see?

The reason still holds true: the Muslim culture, particularly the most militant segments, only seems to understand BRUTE FORCE. Anyone that TRULY knows their culture, and the world in which they live, understands this.

On July 24, 2003 pictures of the killed brothers were released to the press (photo of killed Uday Hussein). The U.S. military command stated that photos of brothers were released to combat widespread rumors in Iraq that the brothers are still alive and the whole episode is a hoax.

At the risk for being labeled insensitive for stereotyping: Give them an inch, and they will demand more, and more, and more....

Obama, you are showing your true colors and inexperience as a "Community Organizer" with every passing minute you are the acting-POTUS.

Charisma only goes so far...

That is exactly what I was thinking. What an idiot, not to undersand that basic premise: your enemies will ALWAYS exploit any weakness they see.
