Olivia Newton-John's partner 'staged his own death to avoid debt repayments and is alive and well,' U.S. investigators claim
By DAILY MAIL REPORTER 27th January 2009
The former partner of Olivia Newton-John, who was believed to have drowned at sea nearly four years ago, staged his own disappearance, private U.S. investigators have claimed.
Patrick McDermott is said to be travelling along the Mexican and South America coastline under an alias to avoid paying debts and enable his teenage son to cash in on a $151,000 insurance policy.
McDermott was 48 years old when he disappeared after boarding a fishing charter boat called The Freedom in California in June 2005.
Patrick McDermott, pictured here with Olivia Newton-John in 2005, just months before he allegedly staged his own death in an apparent boating tragedy U.S. Coast Guard officials concluded that the cameraman had most likely drowned in a boating tragedy - which Newton-John, his parter of eight years, has always accepted.
But suspicion remained over McDermott's disappearance after it emerged he filed for bankruptcy before his disappearance. He also owed thousands of dollars in child support payments to his ex-wife.
Olivia married John Easterling in 2008 The explosive new claims will be detailed in U.S. network NBC's current affairs show Dateline this week.

Now that's much better!
At least we know that Patrick McDermott is a better actor than Olivia Newton John.
Her music really did grate on your nerves. LOL
I could just see you pushing the radio buttons in a frenzy to change the station.
She was bubble gum Pop for sure.
But lets be real since the 78s (as in records) went out of style music just is not what it use to be.
Give me a Pigs foot and a bottle of beer...
I buy fresh pigs feet (as a special binge treat) and the check out gal asked me what in the world do I do with those THOSE things.
So I sang Ms Holidays song and she laughed so hard thinking I was a lyrical guiness then I told her that is Billie Billie Holiday.
Who is Billie Holiday?
me sighed : )
Or maybe you dont know either.
All of Me/Strange Fruit ect. She is one of the jazz greats but that is just my opine.
Oh oopsie yeah your right.
What did Linda Ron...sing?
I was not a typical teen back then.
Jazz was my thing.
Always thought she was hot, but never cared much for the music or that hyphen in her name. Now she’s tracking McDermott while married to someone else.
Just a question here: Is Olivia a bigamist?
Who in the heck is the Dead Kennedys regarding the music world.
On the subject of music my love of Jazz and the early Motown sound and the father of my son a Ted Nugent/Lynard Synard fan we procreated a Southern Gospel music lover. Cant blame him and he cant blame me for that choice of music.
LOL
What did Linda Ron...sing?
She done some good jazz among other things.

Took a peak at your home page.
IIRC you have posted some interesting Pro Life Catholic threads.
I have enjoyed the Pro Life threads you started.
So welcome belated to Free Republic and Steelfish isnt that a Christian music group?
Was that the musical she did with John Travolta?
1970's to 1980's American Hardcore Punk!
Led by Jello Biafra and East Bay Ray.
Took a gander at the link other than Your No Good I do not reconize her music and I consider myself as a jazz genre fan.
Mayby my taste was a bit on the wild side when she was in style.
As a wild teen I got into the Grover Washington type of jazz.
Come to think of it, I may be the only person on the planet who saw both Olivia Newton John and the Dead Kennedys in concert.
Wow I am suprized the PC zealots did not photoshop the cig out of the picture. /sarc
LOL Truly never treaded in that genre of music.
The only reason I know who Kurt Cobain is due to his self exhiled exit from the earthly world and the Weird Als version of Cobains Team Spirit.
That’s about the finest 3-or-so minutes in movie history!
Hey Steel what is really funny (not like in ha ha) is a thread about Olivia Newton has had over 35 reponses. : )
By golly you may be responsible for jump starting her carreer.
/sarc
Indeed. It’s from Grease, 1978 I think. Pretty cool movie if you want a campy version of 50’s Americana and can stomach a little Travolta. The sequel is only worth watching if you wanna see a young, spicy Michelle Pfeiffer, in my opinion.
I think Linda Ronstadt’s best work was the Plow King jingle from the Simpsons:

But, You’re No Good is pretty sweet as well.
I did like that versian (Olivea/Travolta) of Grease the best out of all of them.
Was nice and perky.
I must have older taste then my 5 decades in age.
Paint Your Wagon/Sound Of Music is more my speed.
