The administrations plan to take advantage of the financial meltdown centers around Democrats proposed $825 billion stimulus package, which the Wall Street Journal reports has given Obama a unique opportunity granted almost none of his predecessors. Because of the economic crisis, he is meeting an unusual array of promises almost immediately, including heavy investments in energy and other priorities.

Let’s wait at least one year before we start saying the rats can lock in anything. Things change, and conditions change. So far, this administration has done nothing other than look after terrorists, while jobs are being lost.

As far as I can recall in nearly 50 years of voting, Democrats sole legislative goal has been to to enhance their power.

This is a real possibility, a big government coalition running things in DC. Not that the last administration was anything great.

One hopes this isn’t so. I guess we’ll know for sure in 2011.

However, long term they are sowing the seeds of revolt. Communism doesn’t work. The people who are seduced into being dependent on the government will find themselves abandoned when that same government can’t even pay off its debts, let alone nursemaid them.

I want to know who assigned blue to these socialist liberals. This is pretty interesting that we always associated red with communism then all of a sudden one year its red and blue states and the folks who believed in a republic were colored red. How convenient.

Democrats and academics have been telling us for the last eight years that this democracy thing is overrated. Now they are just carrying out their alternative plans. A one party system is first up and then they will aggressively deal with dissent.

With OUR tax dollars, Obama can buy a permanent majority. Welfare for blacks, welfare and open borders for Hispanics, government favors and protections for unions, welfare for women (the panicky Mommy party), big government for bureaucrats. And of course, the ultimate Democratic bailout, free health care for everyone.
The deluded and scared “pay for play” voters are soaring in numbers. They will easily outvote the taxpayer, the officer and the shrinking legions of devout churchgoers.
The suicide of the West is nigh.

It's now clear that they can't stop spending, and that many major political jurisdictions, including California, NY, Illinois, NJ and Massachusetts are insolvent and will default.
Act accordingly.

Emanuel declared at an executive forum: You never want a serious crisis to go to waste. And what I mean by that is an opportunity to do things you think that could not do before.
I agree with him.

Emanuel's in the grip of the same delusion that Rove was in December 2004. Policy is bigger than politics, and events put a beating on ideology like a red-haired step-child.
However, Obama might have the advantage that some of his supposed "wall builders" are actually things that are popular -- like better access to health care -- and not things like privatizing social security or eliminating estate taxes -- the former being known for decades as the untouchable third rail, and the latter mathematically certain only to appeal to 1% or 2% of the population.
