Apparently they believe government has chosen to "give" you and I the right to bear arms

Got a hard sourceable quote?

Unfortunately, no. But I used to get frequent (Bush) White House emails and often viewed the site. The site under Bush was enjoyable and factual. Now it’s Obama-like.

What it contains are proscriptions on governmental authority and it names some rights that those proscriptions specifically apply to. Amendment X itself makes it clear that the Constitution and BoRs does not name all of our rights.

I think it's Amendment IX that states that the enumeration of rights is not complete. But fundamentally, I would suggest that rather than being a directive to government as to what it is not allowed to do, the Bill of Rights is a notice to everyone of what government actions are illegitimate and should be recognized as such. It is nothing more and nothing less. What is done with that notice depends upon what the people do with it.

I demand redress of what certainly appears to be a high crime and treason against the United States perpetrated by President Barack Hussein Obama.

He broke his Oath to protect and defend the Constitution in his first week.

Let the impeachment process begin immediately!

I don't know why I always transpose the tenth A with the ninth A in my mind. Thanks for the correction.

I appreciate the intent of your point about the BoRs being a notice to the citizens but with wording such as "Congress shall make no law" I think it pretty clearly is stating a legal prohibition on the Federal gov.

That is just how I see it. When the holder of the highest office in the land promotes an understanding of the BoRs that is in exact opposition to its real meaning that is obviously a seditious act.

Yes, but what effect would Amendment I have if Congress were the only entity in the universe that knew about it?

The intention of the Founders was that if Congress did pass a statute (note: it would not be a law) violating the First Amendment, the vast majority of the populace would recognize the statute as illegitimate and refuse to cooperate with the government in capturing the "criminals" and refuse as a jury to convict them.

I haven't bought anything to do with firearms from Wal-Mart, or any other national retail chain in years. They are worthless IMO. Your local 'gun shop' and the internet are the way to go.
