"The idea that someone is helping someone end their life seems to be against human nature. You should help someone end their agony, rather than end their life."

Exactly, pain from diabetes CAN be treated.

His last words, “Yes Dear, I increased the life insurance as you requested, what’s that DVD you’re holding.”

At least he did'nt ask someone else to do his dirty work

Physician Assisted Suicide is an Abomination

Or in English...

I will prescribe regimens for the good of my patients according to my ability and my judgment
and never do harm to anyone.
I will not give a lethal drug to anyone if I am asked,
nor will I advise such a plan;
and similarly I will not give a woman a pessary to cause an abortion.
But I will preserve the purity of my life and my arts

In my days as a paramedic there was nothing worse than to be called to an attempted suicide when the procedure went wrong and the person did not die but was left in worse condition. Often the advice in these books does not include information on what can go wrong. Imagine botching your suicide and then ending up on a respirator in a persistent vegetative state or with complete renal failure and on dialysis. Even a shotgun blast to the head may not be immediately fatal ..knew some paramedics who had such a case.

Man uses 'Final Exit' as suicide guide

Not surprising, considering that the book is intended as exactly that:

From the Amazon description:

Product Description Just published for 2002-3 is the revised, 3rd edition of the bestseller "Final Exit". It described they ways in which a dying person may consider hastening the end of their life if suffering is unbearable. Laws and ethics are outlined in a straightforward fashion. Drug dosage tables and the latest inert gas technique of 'self-deliverance' are explained, with illustrations.

"This book promises them relief. But in a way, it's giving people permission to kill themselves"

"The idea that someone is helping someone end their life seems to be against human nature. You should help someone end their agony, rather than end their life"

Apparently it will come as a surprise to you that people don't require permission to manage their own lives.

That's a very sweet personal view. Do you respect other's perspectives? Can you understand you may not understand what suicide pain is? A little less sanctimony please.

"This book promises them relief. But in a way, it's giving people permission to kill themselves," said Dale Chell, a suicide prevention coordinator with the Iowa Department of Public Health. "The idea that someone is helping someone end their life seems to be against human nature. You should help someone end their agony, rather than end their life."

There's no relief when you die and find yourself in hell. I'll bet at this point, he'd rather be here.

How unspeakably tragic that people are fed this lie that death is the end, there's nothing after, and that their troubles will be over if they simply kill themselves.
