That’s why you have to identify yourself as a policeman. You have to wear colors or something of the like that will give you identification.

That means no "plainclothes" operations, and it's not going to do your dog much good, and probably won't help much in a dynamic entry situation where you're confronting them in a dark hallway in the middle of the night.
