Washington, Jan 21 : Singing legend Aretha Franklin has expressed her desire to be one of the U.S. President Barack Obama's top advisors.

The 66-year-old, a huge supporter of America's new leader, pitched for the prestigious post in an open letter to Obama.

"You should put me on your advisory team. But I am serious if you are interested," Contactmusic quoted her as saying in the letter.

And her first advice concerns the presidential diet.

"Eat plenty of good soul food, Indian, Hawaiian, Chinese, gourmet etc. Because as Dr. (Martin Luther) King used to say, 'After a good soul meal, I could go around the world on a meal like that,'" she said.

Black church ladies, in the south at least, have always worn very creative, even gravity-defying, hats for Sunday. They've kept milliners in business, almost singlehandedly. More power to them; I'm glad somebody still takes pride in their appearance.

But, that said, anybody else that tries to wear one of these gizmos is going to look ridiculous.

...absolutely NO comparisons should EVER be made between BO and MLK! The 2 couldn’t be further apart in their beliefs. MLK truly wanted equal rights for all men, while BO had an inauguration and a campaign that promoted race baiting and pimping. Aretha is a fat, kool-aid drinking fool.

Hooray! Milliner Luke Song plans to create a line inspired by the hat he designed for longtime customer Aretha Franklin to wear to the inauguration. “I’d be very stupid not to take this opportunity,” Song said. Since the inauguration, Song has sold 1,000 of the $179 hat Aretha’s was based on (hers was custom and free). The line will include twelve hats in a variety of colors, with bows of different sizes, and will premiere at the Women’s Wear in Nevada trade show next month in Las Vegas. While I think that hat is a bit gaudy, it would be nice if ladies would go back to the custom of wearing hats. And men, too. With suits and ties.

Just to set the record straight, MLK stole two-thirds of his dissertation, cheated on his wife, and was an affirmative action user of white prostitutes. Yes, Obama and MLK are quite different.
