ISLAMABAD, Pakistan (AP) - Suspected U.S. missiles killed 18 people on the Pakistan side of the Afghan border Friday, security officials said, the first attacks on the al-Qaida stronghold since President Barack Obama took office. At least five foreign militants were among those killed in the strikes by unmanned aircraft in two parts of the frontier region, an intelligence official said without naming them. There was no information on the identities of the others.

Pakistan's leaders had expressed hope Obama might halt the strikes, but few observers expected he would end a tactic that U.S. officials say has killed several top al-Qaida operatives and is denying the terrorist network a long-held safe haven.

If Obama is found to be not legally president because of the "natural born citizen" clause in the constitution and he authorized this attack how would this be treated by the UN, Pakistan and in international courts?

Since he IS the CiC, the buck stops at his desk, so whether he ordered the strike or not, he is responsible. Besides, he said before (in the campaign) he wanted to invade Pakistan to get the bad guys.

As I understand it, O was briefed on it, but he didn’t have to authorize it, as it was part of an already ongoing operation.

Then the US only has to apologize for “a brother gone fool”.

He said, “yes”, much like Kennedy said yes to the Bay of Pigs, but on a much smaller scale, of course. He's the CiC, so he is responsible. Let him wiggle his way out of it with a “The previous administration approved it, but I didn't have enough time to stop it.” It won't work with those who think logically, but the media will accept it.

Of course I remember. My question is of legality if he is found to be a usurper. His father was a British national and to be “natural born” both parents have to be citizens.
Crazy Times. Actually I fully understand all the implications, I just wanted to pose the question.

Obambi must rule center-right when it comes to national defense. He has no f-ing choice. It's do or die. Even this idiot can tell.

But the sad fact of the matter is, Obambi is trying to put together his extravagant stimulus package that is supposed to save everybody and he's such an idiot he's putting in stuff like birth control pills. What economy is he trying to stimulate? Vegas anyone?

Well, I guess then that Obama is tacitly endorsing Bush’s policies because wouldn’t he have stopped the operation as CiC if he disagreed?

Anyway, Obama scores his first sort-of Neo-Con/Wilsonian “credit” by at least tacitly giving a Presidential nod to this operation. Niiiicccce!

Every day the SCOTUS delays in correcting this is another day
of potential illegal actions and they are growing by the minute.
The legal web that will need to be untangled is growing exponentially.
As far as being CiC that is the question at hand.

Besides, as President Obama sets policy and senior generals carry it out. The President wouldn’t authorize specific strikes. Am I right, all you military people?

The President wouldn’t authorize specific strikes.

The vast majority of the time he doesn't, but once in a while he does, i.e. a couple of failed missile strikes ordered by Clinton which were targeted at places where Bin Laden was thought to be.

Squidly: I think you got it right. This was probably an ongoing surveillance operation that found the targets all together in one place and Centcom gave the “hit” order.

Obama doesn’t even know where Pakistan is. That’s why Gen. Jones is around - to show him where it is on a map.

Oh, I forgot. Obama was a subcommittee chairman on Afghanistan and something else and never held a meeting.

Yep. That’s our leader. Oh boy, it’s gonna be a long four years if American survives that long.

If he was briefed on it and didn’t stop it, he authorized it. The President does not have the option of skating out of decisions like that. That’s what being the President MEANS.

My question was directed at the general reading public, not you. His first day on the job he immediately started doing items on “the list” - except transparency went out the window.

He authorized it by not stopping it. This is now obama’s war.
