Yea right, the winners should not play well so the losers can score a few points to make them feel good. maybe the losers should practice more so they can score a few points by themselves instead of being given worthless points just to feel good. Its not about common sense its about working hard to achieve a goal in life or in this case points.
No, the smart thing for the winning coach to do would have been to play a sagging zone well, practice of which might come in handy against a future tougher opponent and play your backups which also usually pays off later. All of this would have still been a honest effort at playing the game but would have not resulted in scoring an unnecessary 100 points.
