Absolutely no class on the part of the coaches of the winning team. Running up the score at any level from tee ball to professional sports is BS and unacceptable and anybody who’s spent any time coaching should know that. I’ve coached baseball for many years at all age levels and I’d come pretty close to strangling a coach who didn’t get that. No, I’m not a puss. I’ve coached a team that won a Little League state championship and have a nephew who currently plays major league baseball. You don’t do it. Period.
Agreed, but I never tell kids to ease up.
When we play teams like this (who should be playing at the Y instead of a school league) I create different situations. For example, the post players become the guards; Only left hand layups; All the players stay in the paint for defense; Try a 'no dribble' quarter, only passes and a dribble is a turnover (great drill to get the kids to move to space.)
The kids have to do things differently. We treat it as a skills practice, not a game or game simulation.
This game was on ESPN this morning.
