Why spend tens of thousands of dollars per prisoner (that is the per-capita cost of running prisons) when a fifty-cent bullet is a lot cheaper?

A nuclear missile is aimed at the white house. We don't know where it will launch from, or when, but we have a prisoner who knows.

That's fair. Let me ask this. A Bush Administration official (Susan Crawford) called the treatment of Mohammed al-Qahtani at Gitmo "torture". Here's what it consisted of:

“The techniques they used were all authorized, but the manner in which they applied them was overly aggressive and too persistent … Interrogation techniques used on Qahtani included sustained isolation, sleep deprivation, nudity and prolonged exposure to cold. He was hospitalized twice.”

Would you not use any of these in your scenario?

Yes your right, even though water boarding was already stopped except in extreme cases. A newspaper article said even ‘good cop, bad cop’ was no longer allowed.

We need to stand by our principles as defined by Obama.

If a nuke takes out the white house and its current Indonesian resident because we failed to water-board .... so be it. We would prove to the world that we are above the fray.
