I am thinking that all this construction work will be for
the illegals who excel in construction work, vote dem and
will insure continued dem control. Little benefit for the
folks here who have lost jobs and more competition for the
people who are suited for construction work.

Well, I saw this coming back then. I believe that we have
our very own Uncle Reich.

My god, I don’t understand how Middle America couldn’t see this coming....

About 5 AM today, I was sitting in the lobby of a dialysis clinic awaiting regularly scheduled treatment. There were about a dozen of us.

A political discussion began -- concerning how impressed they were with Obama, his inauguration and how wonderful it was going to be for the country (hate Bush). About half joined in, the other half remained silent -- listening, as I was.

The half proceeded to praise Obama to the skies -- he was "color blind", he was "for America", he would "work hard" (hate Bush). It was evident that none of them knew anything whatsoever about his radical history, his leftist campaign promises -- what he really believed.

Instead, each projected onto Obama what they wanted the President to believe -- and assumed he would act accordingly (hate Bush).

It was a real eye-opener. The MSM had really done its job -- leaving the public uninformed about what they really needed to know, while instilling a warm, fuzzy feeling about the man (hate Bush).

(Psst, won't watching black highway and public works crews laboring for government salaries look uncomfortably like a modern variant of 1854 cotton-picking redux?

Add balls and chains and you'd have Mississippi, 1924.

True, they could very well have these jobs lined up for “migrant workers”. Sadly, we’re now going to be paying for abortions in Mexico as well.

No, my son cashed some in two days ago and the price of aluminum is so low he barely got enough to pay for the gas in my Kia.

Better start plowing.

What troubles me more than barring white males from these construction jobs is the barring SKILLED workers of any kind.

I’m sure not looking forward to driving across any bridges built by a completely incompetent, unskilled crew of people hired ONLY because of race or the lacking of a Y chromosome.

Oh I know. The price of copper went up so much people were stealing it wherever they could find it, a/c, wiring, waterlines. Thankfully it’s down enough to almost stop it.

In response to my assertion that Martin Luther King, were he alive today, would be supporting race preferences and quotas, you wrote:

I disagree, you’re assuming that ALL people who would place character (the inner-man) above the color/race (the outer-man) are in actuality just trying to promote a countering-racism (I use that term because counter-racism means you’re trying to counter it, and the term “reverse-racism” is simply [oxy]moronic.) Now, MLK may have REALLY believed that a society of character would be better than a society of race; that it would have meant that “blacks” as a whole would be better-off in such a case is the question you’re really raising: which ideal was primary?

I'm not saying that ALL those who say people should be judged by the content of their character, rather than by their race, are in fact supporters of race preferences and quotas for blacks. But certainly all of King's close associates who survived to see such preferences and quotas implemented have supported them. Jesse Jackson supports them. So do Joseph Lowery and John Lewis. So did Coretta Scott King. Not one of them stood up and said, "Hey, these racial set-asides and reverse discrimination programs violate Dr. King's dream of a color blind society, and they need to be ended."

In addition, liberals have a long track record of sounding "moderate" on an issue until the time is ripe to go for something far more radical, at which point they do. A good example playing out before us right now is Barack Obama on same-sex "marriage". All through the campaign he claimed to oppose such "marriages", but now he's calling for the repeal of DOMA, the result of which would be nationwide same-sex "marriage".

So, in my opinion, anyone claiming that King would oppose quotas if alive today, based on his "content of their character" phrase in his famous 1963 speech, has a hard case to make. One would have to believe that he'd today be fighting against the entire liberal establishment, including his old buddies Jackson, Lowery, Lewis, etc. on this issue. In fact, since most conservatives have even thrown in the towel on this issue, King would have to be to the right of most Republicans to declare any opposition to these race preference proposals.

In addition, we also have King's own words. Shortly before his death, he did an interview with Playboy. By this point, quotas were starting to be hinted at as a tactic for bringing about "equality". King said this: "If a city has a 30 percent Negro population then it is logical to assume that Negroes should have at least 30 percent of the jobs in any particular company, and jobs in all categories rather than only in menial areas."

Note that he said blacks should have at least 30 percent of all the jobs. This means he would have found it acceptable for blacks to exceed their quota, just not to fall below it. This is the very pattern we see today where it's fine for blacks to be overrepresented (population-wise) in some high paying fields, such as the NBA or the production staff at BET. But if they fall below, then quotas are demanded.

I didn’t personally know the man, so I can’t say.

Well, all we can do is speculate based on the few hints available. My opinion is that King's natural leftism, the pro-quota behavior of his surviving associates, the tendency of leftists to constantly move further left after each victory, and King's own words indicate that he would support anti-white policies if alive today.

We have a bunch of petty tyrants in charge of everything now.

I see this as a positive. They'll be having pissing contests constantly and the infighting will be fun to watch. I think the less they accomplish the better off we'll all be.

This IS the CHICAGO WAY.

UNION CORRUPTION UPDATE

Excerpt

Duff Patriarch Dies; Headed Chicago Contracting Fiefdom

John F. “Jack” Duff Jr., a highly successful Chicago businessman, has died at age 82. Neither his family nor Cumberland Chapels funeral home in Norridge, Ill. would give any details beyond the fact of his passing. But his life deserves more than passing mention. Few in Chicago were his equal when it came to cultivating good relations with politicians, the unions and the mob. It’s a minor miracle that he, his family and their business partners usually managed to stay out of trouble. The Duffs ran an efficient fiefdom whose fatal flaw was trying to hustle a larger fiefdom: affirmative-action contracting.

Born in Chicago, Duff, a longtime resident of nearby Oak Park, Ill., was not one to let adversity keep him down. By the end of the 1950s, he was juggling three jobs – tavern keeper, union official and City investigator. In 1960, those worlds collided. He testified in court that a one-time beer supplier was Chicago crime boss Anthony “Big Tuna” Accardo, at the time on trial for tax fraud. Duff subsequently lost his City job over conflicts of interest. But he only was getting started. In time, he would become a vice president of the Allied Distillery and Wine Workers International Union and an official of its Local 3 affiliate in Chicago, also known as Liquor and Wine Sales Representatives. That would last until 1982, when he was sentenced to 17 months in federal prison for embezzling union funds. His sons took over after that.

After his release, Jack Duff concentrated on business, especially a janitorial service known as Windy City Maintenance. His fortunes took an upward turn after 1989 following Richard M. Daley victory in a special election for mayor. Duff, family members and friends subsequently won at least $100 million in city contracts and subcontracts during 1990-2002. The quality of the work wasn’t at issue; the manner of acquiring the contracts was. A 1999 Chicago Tribune investigation revealed that Duff’s wife, Patricia, fronted as Windy City’s owner, so that the company, now classified as “female-headed,” could get preference in contract awards. The Duff family had tried to circumvent a Chicago ordinance requiring that 25 percent of public contracts be set aside for firms headed by a racial/ethnic minority and 5 percent be set aside for female-headed firms. Mrs. Duff, son James, and five other individuals were charged by federal prosecutors in 2003 after a four-year probe.

James Duff eventually pleaded guilty to racketeering, fraud and other charges, and is serving a 10-year sentence. The feds dropped charges against Patricia Duff due to her Alzheimer’s disease. In a separate case, a federally-appointed monitor removed another son, John Duff III, from the liquor and wine sales representatives union for embezzling more than $170,000 and for knowingly associating with organized crime figures. Various associates also went down. The Duffs were corrupt, but in all fairness the corruption that brought them down was an entrenched system of racial and gender favoritism. End it, don’t mend it. (Chicago Tribune, 3/7/08; other sources).

Not enough has been written about Samuel Adams.

Samuel Adams was the real father of the American revolution.

“How strangely will the Tools of a Tyrant pervert the plain Meaning of Words!”

It does not require a majority to prevail, but rather an irate, tireless minority keen to set brush fires in people’s minds.”

Samuel Adams
