I believe you could probably be correct in that estimate. I read that 38 million Americans watched the inauguration on TV or computers alone. If you add in worldwide viewership, and the people that were present in DC, I think that it would get pretty close to 1 billion. Interestingly, though not a surprise to us FReepers who are Reagan fans, Reagan's inauguration in 1981, still holds the record for number of TV viewers with 41.8 million. Sure miss him.
