Mike - what about McCain voting against Tim Geithner (Treasurer) nomination? Does this put him back on your good list and now put Hatch, Cornyn and Crepo on the bad list?
John is a hero plain and simple

I've considered Hatch a problm since Ruby Ridge. Hatch supports Liberalism behind the scenes, but votes conservative if enough people harangue him. I'm LDS also.

The LDS Church and culture both are very Conservative, Constitutionally oriented. Its a Free Agency thing... Many books on our Republic have been written by past Presidents of the Church. Both McKay & Benson (who served as Sec. of the Interior) were active fighting communism & teaching abt its evils. For ex., President Benson wrote a book called "The Constitution: A Heavenly Banner".

As w/Cannon, it is the Liberal portion that keep voting him in, 70% of Utah is non-LDS, also like any large denomination, not all LDS are active.

Having followed Hatch for most of his time in DC, I'd say he's a posterboy for aclimation phenom. He went to DC, became great pals w/TeddyK & JM, then like JM veered hard left while speaking middle-right.

Cornyn is unreliable in his conservatism, being easily swayed[sp?] by stonger personalities until political necessity demands otherwise. I do feel that Cornyn can be transformed into a solidly conservative voter.

That's done by soundly defeating his "good buddy" JM in the next primary. Once he's certain there are consequences his spine will firm up.

As for JM's opposition to Conservatism, it has been "in many ways over many years". Abt this bill, I'll wait & see. JM has a history of opposing bills until some window dressing is changed. Look at the bailout. A bill with unconstitutional origins ("purse-string bills" are only to originate in the House, tacking one onto a tiny Senate bill is patently unconstitutional...), loaded-up with earmarks. JM's arm-twisting was instrumental in passing it, (who campaigned as the anti-earmark candidate, I forget...). There was no oversight built-in, and if JM was unaware of it, as he's claimed, he's criminally incompetent.[PDA's edit buffer full, cont. nxt comment...] ps: duty calls! prt.2 in a few hrs-
