President-elect Barack Obama honored his vanquished Republican rival John McCain on Monday, describing the Arizona senator as an "American hero" while the Democrat prepared to assume the office that both men fought bitterly to attain.

Okay, I am confused. Can anyone point out to me where John McCain fought bitterly to win the election?

It was the half-second he announced Sarah Palin as his running mate. Y’know, if you blinked, you missed it.

too bad he had to throw Sarah Palin to the wolves to comply with his masters...

I disagree about Palin being thrown to wolves. She comes out of this with more name recognition than McCain or Biden. Obama voters know more about her than they do about Obama. Not being included in that Senate circle of socialists is a huge plus, imo.

The one bright spot of his campaign, elevating Sarah Palin to the national stage. People questioned why McCain didn’t send Palin out to rallies by herself. The reason he didn’t was because she was outdrawing him something fierce and would only go to show how pathetic he was.

I bet Sarah Palin does not go to Washington today, but just watches from Alaska on Fox. If I were her would just stay the heck away from that whole den of iniquity.

It’s not the same effect as voting rat, the GOP loses a vote but the rat doesn’t gain one. It has half the effect.

Before the vote I lambasted anyone who said they weren’t voting McStain, in the future I’m not going to criticize people who won’t vote for RINO losers as bad as him. McCain is more like a JFK democrat than a conservative Republican.

I voted for him and a worthless RINO loser for Senate who was assured of losing big, really I was just voting for the party to register my support for a Republican Senate in a year I knew we were gonna lose a bunch of seats. It was a symbolic vote either way, Trick Durbin was assured of talking over 60%.

If Obama ushers in a dangerous paradigm shift to the left as I fear I’ll stand by my vote for McLame as justified despite his suckage. If he messes up and allows the GOP to make a comeback in 2010 (a mid term gain would be very unlikely under a President McQueeg) and 2012 (with a non RINO Presidental nominee) that would provide justification that it was a good thing McStain didn’t win.

If I knew what would’ve happened in Bush’s second term I’d voted Libertarian or Constitution party for President in 2004.

There’s the Supreme court to consider of course but we’d have better off if Kerry had won. GOP would have scored midterm gains in 2006. And after the VP Edwards sex scandal and financial crisis Kerry would been defeated in 2008. Hopefully a Republican base motivated to do something (Beat Kerry) would have nominated someone better than McCain who almost accepted Kerry’s proposal of gay marriage, I mean excepted Kerry’s offer to be his running mate. Yes the GOP nominated a man who seriously considered leaving the party and joining Kerry.

Posted this on another thread, fits here too:

McCain is once again stabbing his own base in the gut. McCain has to have someone to blame for anything that goes wrong. He blamed Bush when running against him. He went after Romney (in cahoots w/the Huckster); they double-teamed him, preventing him from winning in the primary. He hated Bush, he hated Romney. He now hates (I believe) and blames this latest loss on the evil right wing of his Party and on Sarah Palin whom he feels he had to pick to appease that right wing of his Party.

So now he will once again attack his own Party by siding with Obama and being a turncoat. He will be the swing vote time after time to get Obama’s policies through, some of them because he is for them (his RINO side), such as the illegal alien amnesty bill, or more campaign reform that will further hurt his own party, or his anti-torture issues. But some of them will be purely to whip out the stiletto and wield it against those right wingers in his Party that he blames for his loss. McCain is really a spiteful guy. And we will be the recipients of that spite.

".....in hindsight I clearly see that he indeed, as usual, screwed the pooch and backstabbed us all because he truly thought that she would be the death of his campaign instead of a lightning rod...

Exactly, and since she was wining, the hartards had to take down the building...to save it of course./s

"Vanquished" implies to me that some sort of valiant fight was put up by the loser. Nothing could be furher from the truth here.

Gotta go to work now...

It's very simple what's going on. The Rats have taken over everything so when they fail they will have their fallback RINOs to blame and McCain is more than happy to be that guy.
