“The BTK killer did not murder very young children”
Wrong. One of his first victims was the eight-year-old daughter of the Oteros, young Josie. He took her down to the basement, sexually assaulted her, then strung her up on a basement pipe to strangle to death.
He also placed a bag over the 6 yr. old Otero boy’s head.
I stand corrected. Thank you. Facts always are paramount to me.
The first crimes linked to the BTK killer occurred on January 15, 1974, when Joseph Otero, 38, his wife Julie, 34, and their children Josephine, 11, and Joseph, 9, were found dead inside their home. Source.
Unlike the Ramsey case, BTK murdered the entire Otero family. To the best of my knowledge, he killed only teenagers and/or adults thereafter.
There are many strange things about the Ramsey case. I remain skeptical (not closed minded to, but needing evidence) that a total stranger killed Jon Benet. It's extremely rare for a stranger/murderer to kill only one person in a household, and to kill that one person while remaining inside the house and knowing other people are inside.
Although it isn't unknown for strangers to snatch kids out of their homes and kill them, as in the Lindburgh baby and Polly Klass cases, it rarest of the rare.
According all law enforcement statistics, most murderers of children are relatives, acquaintances or caretakers. Younger children (aged 13 and under) are more likely to be murdered by a relative; and older children, aged 13-18. Approximately 1200 to 1500 children under the age of 18 are murdered annually. Approximately 57% were killed by a parent. Strangulation, use of a blunt object, and beating with fists were the most common means used when a parent killed a child. (Source.)
So I repeat, if John or Patsy Ramsey were, indeed, innocent of this crime, then the most likely murderer is someone who knew them.
