Nope, Conservatives were not deluded. We were offered the one less evil than the other one (sound familliar?). Can you imagine Algore for POTUS?

How'd that work out for you?

When Bush was announced as the nominee, I walked out of the caucus. I continue to be disgusted by the "lesser evil" mentality, and until such time as enough Americans not only have a better grasp of the Constitution, but want to see it upheld enough to vote that way, realize we will end up with affairs like the current mess.

Perhaps we would have been better off to get through the pain of the Democrat/socialist (as in Carter) to swing the pendulum of popular opinion back the other way earlier, but I find it difficult to imagine the damage either Gore or Kerry would have done.

Then, too, Conservative need a viable alternative waiting in the wings for just such an opportunity, untainted by the corruption of Washington, D.C.

(That is why the liberals have outdone themselves smearing Palin--she scares the crap out of them, so they smear her through any means, no matter how trivial, possible. Similarly, they intentionally ignored Duncan Hunter and others, and smeared still others by their associations if nothing else, with ample help from alleged Conservatives.)

That said, I think the upcoming regime will be more disastrous for our Republic than most anyone had imagined, by popular demand, no less.
