In my opinion, a pardon would right a wrong. This is part way but doesn’t finish the job.

yep. “Commutation” gets them out of the can, but they still have the crime on their record.

But now they can apply to have their records expunged...

I respectfully disagree. They did try to conceal evidence.

Let the conviction stand, but it's well past time they should walk free for that crime.
