They still committed a crime. Commuted works for me, they do not deserve to be in jail, BUT they still did abuse their power by filing a false report ... Law enforcement/border enforcement is something they never deserve to be EVER again.
I don’t care if they are pardoned or commuted, just glad they’re out of jail period. And I am sure they are both too.
I totally agree. They did commit a crime, but their sentence was way over the top. I think commuting their sentences was just.
Maybe we should prevent the Border Patrol from ever being put into that position. Land-mines and lethal-electrified fences should do just nicely.

I thought that obstruction of justice was the only charge that they were acquitted of. Was the filing of a false report covered under a different charge that obstruction of justice? By the way, if they really did file a false report, then I agree with you that it is a serious abuse of power, but probably not deserving of jail time.
