That still means they are convicted felons.

They did, after all, break the law by trying to cover up the shooting. The commutation is fair.

Bear in mind that “they broke the law” as it was defined and portrayed by Johnny Sutton. One or two of the jurors recanted their decision to vote guilty after learning all of the facts about the illegal drug smuggler. And there was a difference in culpability between Ramos and Compean that was never fully addressed.
