Starbucks Coffee wants U.S. consumers to jump on president-elect Barack Obama’s volunteer bandwagon and pledge to join one of his community service corps.

Obama and incoming first lady Michelle Obama want Americans to do community service the week of his inauguration Jan. 20. and commit this year to one of his so-called national service corps that will do volunteer work in schools and related to the environment.

Starbucks said it will offer free “tall” coffee beginning Wednesday through Sunday for customers who fill out community service pledge cards at the coffee chain’s locations.

Some incentive. Charbucks coffee is horrible. They would probably lace it with a drug to make the “volunteers” not question orders. Mind numbed robots indeed.

Yes it was. Thats according to an elder fellow I once knew who escaped from Germany prior to WW2 starting.

It was a sick place till the Nazis came to full power and then it became a terror to live there. Friends sold out friends and sons turned in parents to the nazis for favors-I.E. power.

There is something wrong with this premise. Free advertising for Starbucks? Free stuff for volunteers? No more Starbucks for me! (Ps. My volunteer commitments far exceeds five hours per week.)

“Starbucks wants customers to commit to five hours this year for community service and volunteer programs.”

“boycott”

Nope, use their own tools against them. Flood the system, until they start asking for ID, which will slow them down and cost them money.

If you boycott, the lines will be shorter, it will be easier to sign up, and they will spend less on free coffee.

Saul Alinsky taught that one very effective strategy is to insist that your enemy follow their own rules, this is a subset of that.

"The Obama’s apparently do not know many Americans who already do volunteer work."

Bingo. And the fact is...conservatives volunteer a LOT more than liberals.

Campbell's Soup recently and now Starbuck's coffee.

Oh, well. No big deal at all to never again disgrace myself with their products, really.

And aren't we already called by that other God to do acts of charity for our fellow man?

I'll gladly take His reward instead of an overpriced cup of coffee.
