Friends who served in Iraq heard rumors that shipments went to Syria as the ground war in 2003 was getting under way but they could not confirm those rumors. If said weapon shipments went to Syria, could not cash-strapped Syria sell them on the open black market to naughty folks? It’s certainly possible.

There is a whole realm of things going on to which only Special Ops, CIA and NSA are privy and the general public is oblivious. When I visited a friend at MARSOC, there was a whiteboard scrawled with “America is not at war. The US military is at war. America is at the mall.”

"America is not at war. The US military is at war. America is at the mall.” What hit me like a slap in the face right after 9/11 was Bush's response when asked what the people should do. He said,"Go shopping." I know what he was trying to say, but it sent the wrong message. But it's true: America was not at war. There was no declaration of war. Failure to engage.
