Presidential autographs may go for $6K By: Carol E. Lee January 18, 2009 06:15 PM EST
When Barack Obama stepped into the Oval Office with his presidential brethren recently, he had already agreed to take part in one of this exclusive fraternitys secret traditions: autographing a limited number of copies of the photograph that captured the moment.
The former, current and future presidents pact to create only 250 copies of the photograph with all of their signatures upped the ante on an image that was a keepsake before it was even taken.
Early estimates value the signed pictures at more than $6,000 apiece, based on the rarity of such a meeting and how few copies of the photograph will be circulated. That value could push higher when collectors factor in Obamas popularity and historical significance as the first African-American president.
Youre going to see these valued and collected and sought after in a similar fashion as the previous ones, and when youre talking about a president thats very popular at the moment, that has to help, said Steven Hoskin, president of the Professional Autograph Dealers Association.

Dear Leader......
That’s 6K in monopoly money?
Hopefully not for the bills he signs, unless those Chicago roots hang tough.
Gag me!
But, his signature on the bill he will have to sign for ‘payback’ to all those big ‘donors’ will be worth even more.
Ah, no thanks! Not in this lifetime.
Earned or printed?
Nope, your money- er taxpayers money....
Everything he signs will cost a bundle.
Yea there's a reason most of us working class schmucks never heard of this "tradition". We pay more than than in TAXES to support these creeps that are just having a good time.
What about OUR traditions that are being sold down the toilet?
I already blew my wad ordering commemorative coins and plates. /s
...me too!
his autograph isn’t worth six cents..
One thing’s for sure. I’d rather have the $6K.
For three Obama and two Carter you can trade a Nixon.
If I had that kind of money to burn I’d buy one just for the pleasure of painting Jimmy Carter’s face out of the photo...... I’d leave his signature, though, just for the reminder that we had to endure 4 years of him and then many years of his strutting, imbecilic vanity as a “former statesman” jetting around the world.
Come to think of it, I’d do the same for Clinton and Obama...... :^)
Come to think of it, I’d just have to burn the photo b/c who’d want that kind of reminder?
ping..
I’ll give 6 cents for it.
