President-elect Obama's remarks to the crowd at the Lincoln Memorial "We Are One" concert on Sunday.
In the course of our history, only a handful of generations have been asked to confront challenges as serious as the ones we face right now. Our nation is at war. Our economy is in crisis.
I won't pretend that meeting any one of these challenges will be easy. It will take more than a month or a year, and it will likely take many. Along the way there will be setbacks and false starts and days that test our fundamental resolve as a nation.
But despite all of this -- despite the enormity of the task that lies ahead -- I stand here today as hopeful as ever that the United States of America will endure, that it will prevail, that the dream of our founders will live on in our time.

At Lincoln Memorial, Uplifting Music and a Talk of Challenges
Crowds flock to National Mall for inaugural concert ("We Are One")
“And I intend to save this country by bankrupting it.”
“We Are One?”
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
We haven’t been “one” in decades now. He may soon be the Grand Cyclops of the country, but he will never be my president.
Ich bin ein beginner...
Amazing! It sounds like it came out of here: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/2166860/posts
ah, but he’ll have the press adoring him and spreading propaganda for him...
as for all those problems: They are actually no worse than Jimmy Carter faced...
I really like this speech. The image of the Lincoln behind him is inspiring. He paraphrased lines from Lincoln and Kennedy. His delivery was excellent.
Not to say that I voted for or supported the guy, but he is an excellent public speaker. That is the only thing that I can praise him for.
All of a sudden he believes Americans can do anything.
When it is American troops in Iraq, he said it would fail.
He says we are one now? Yet voted against our troops on the battlefield.
This guy uses a lot of Oprah words, he is nothing but cult of personality and socialism.
His choice to pattern himself after Lincoln is actually quite cynical. Everyone knows how Lincoln ended. “The one” wants to use that potential to garner concern and justify increases to his personal protection.
I laughed so hard when I read this that it scared my grandson! Excellent!!!
let me get this straight.....
When Bush got elected (twice), we weren’t ‘one’. But now that your guy gets elected, suddenly we are a united country? Exactly how did that happen?
By ‘one’ do they mean LA, DC and NYC?? Cuz those places were already ‘one’ every year that I’ve been alive.
Who else is ‘one’ who wasn’t ‘one’ last year?
The Answer: You Liberals. So congratulations on finally joining those of us who want America to succeed! We welcome to amongst those of us who are Proud of America (like Michelle Obama has finally become).
We are NOT “one” sir. To be united, there must be mutual respect. I and millions of others do not respect you, as you have done nothing to earn it.
And I highly doubt you ever will. You have been a fraud since the moment you were born.
Hitler had a thing for oratory as well..
Little Tin God, Obama
That...plus...the little fact that Lincoln was a REPUBLICAN!
This stuff is absolutely outrageous. No, I’m not talking about the potential for this Marxist’s destructive mayhem. What really frosts my butt is the RAT move to make election cycles continuous and, then, this @ss trying to act Presidential from the moment he was given the RAT nod. Pretentious seals, “healing the earth” and now this. Give me a staight foward dictator and tyrannt instead of this preening nitwit.
Hogwash. The Great Depression, the Civil War, and World War II were all worse crises than anything we face today. Obama is merely lowering expectations and demanding support for anything he may want to do.
