In my book, Pearl Harbor constituted a national emergency. Even so, yeah, I prefer a volunteer army. My grandfather voluteered and stormed the beaches of Normandy.

Actually, I should say he stormed A beach of Normandy. He didn’t go back in the water and head toward Omaha after he was done at Utah, or anything.

The drafted army of WWII wasn’t a standing mandatory conscript army during peacetime. There is a huge difference.

Considering that Smerconish is from Philadelphia, he’s probably thinking that Obama could put all those gang bangers to work doing something besides selling drugs and shooting each other.

I don’t think they would be very happy with the pay.
