A form came home from our daughter's public elementary school last week for permission to attend "morning rallies". This would be a get together for the children with an intern from MIT where they would discuss issues of interest to the kids and ask how they felt about teachers, other kids, and probably parents. Nowhere was the name Obama used but of course this is Obama-style community organizing at the grade school level. Needless to say, I wrote "CONSENT WITHHELD" on the form and returned it.

One interesting thing, though. We live in a conservative area and most of the teachers are that way as well. It turns out my form was the only run returned that first day. The regular teacher read what I wrote and said "Everyone should say NO!". So there is some hope in rural areas such as mine.
