>>Greater service would be starting a business, getting married, getting a degree.
Or even just getting some training/education so that you can become a contributing member of society, and not another gov’t leech.

today's "youth" is not what it once was......they were born with video games, cell phones and ipods.....sexual promiscuity is rampant,as is drug use....
they would sure make one great workforce...NOT!

The people we "owe" and should give back to are our parents.
The state - we pay taxes for defense and roads. Apart from that, we owe the state nothing.

This nitwit is what passes for a conservative in Philly. He's as much a conservative as David Brooks, Peggy Noonan, or Katharine Parker. Speaking of poor David, who's going to buy his wares when the Times goes under?

Absolutely, positively not!! There is no way Ill ever be enslaved by the federal government.
You are already enslaved by the federal government. I just finished Richard Maybury’s Whatever Happened to Justice? and my outlook has completely changed.

Illegals would be exempt. As a result, they would fill a lot of the private industry jobs vacated by mandatory service people.
Aint life in a Single Party State wonderfull?
Let me rephrase that suggestion: How about if, when registering inner city youth for the 'corps' any illegal alien is immediately housed in a detention center and then bused back to the border and given $20 to get himself home?
We have got to do something drastic about the illegal alien problem or we will no longer be a first world Country.

Oh come on now, you know socialists do not believe in manners and such! When was the lst time you met a lib or socialist who displayed any?
Just this afternoon's emails from my brother. He rambles on and on about me thinking I have to 'save the world' because I sent out the Peanut Butter warning to friends in my email list and ACCIDENTALLY included him. I've removed him from my email address book. If he dies, he dies. So he responds and says that if I kept him from meeting his maker because I warned him of the Salmonella, would that be what God wants for me to do? So, as I said, no more warnings. If he dies, he dies. (Mom always did like him best.)
