Most Americans told The Times that they did not expect real progress in improving the economy, reforming the health care system or ending the war in Iraq -- three of the central promises of the Obama campaign for at least two years.

So 79% are optimstic he'll do nothing? Expect nothing?? Doesn't matter what he does just as long as he gets on TeeVee and tells how great this moment is???

Again, I ask: how did this happen?

“Again, I ask: how did this happen?”

And again, I answer: Public schools.

They really don’t seem to expect much considering the fact that The One stood at Denver and said that he would defeat poverty, disease and climate change, among other things.

Personally I expect to see massive unemployment due to the closing of all drug companies, pharmacies, hospitals, clinics, nursing homes etc. due to the defeat of disease. But there will be no need to worry about unemployment because poverty will be defeated, therefore it won’t matter whether we have jobs, only those who really enjoy their work will insist on continuing to do so. I also expect the climate to remain in strict control with no more of this silly changing that has been going on for billions of years. Such was promised and I expect it!
