Hundreds wait for hours to buy S.F. ID card

Hundreds wait for hours to buy S.F. ID card Heather Knight, Chronicle Staff Writer Friday, January 16, 2009

Hundreds of people stood in line for hours at San Francisco City Hall on Thursday to be among the first in the nation to receive municipal identification cards regardless of their immigration status.

The cards, also available in New Haven, Conn., and being considered in other cities, have sparked fury among advocates of stricter immigration laws. They argue cities have no business declaring people residents if they are not in the country legally.

But San Francisco officials and recipients of the cards hailed the new program as a way to connect undocumented immigrants with banks, businesses and city services, such as obtaining health care and checking out library books. They also said it will encourage card holders to report crimes to the police without fear of being arrested or deported.

"I really need the identification card," said Marvin Martinez, 50, who arrived in the city five months ago from Florida and is originally from Mexico. Martinez, who didn't say whether he was a legal resident, stood in a long line - one made up mostly of Latino men - that snaked down the marble hallway outside the county clerk's office.

"I'll use it to look for jobs and for school and when the police stop me, I'll have ID to show them," he said. "It'll improve things."

With O's election the last chance to stop federal taxpayer dollars going to SF city is dead! How did our country get to this point! My God, my God Why has Thou Forsaken this Nation?

re: My God, my God Why has Thou Forsaken this Nation?

I’m not so sure it’s not the other way around. We’ve forsaken Him.

Our nation had forsaken God long before He forsook(?) us.

The Founders, unlike the degenerate SOB lawyers that have been running DC for the last 90 years, studied HISTORY and understood why Republics fall.

It took 4 Constitutional amendments, Motor Voter, McCain Feingold, and ACORN, but their work is undone.

The fall is in progress.

What it will do is mark them as being illegals.

Time to get one. Get a job. Use the new identity. Refuse to pay any taxes. Perfect.

...receive municipal identification cards regardless of their immigration status.(emphasis mine)

But San Francisco officials and recipients of the cards hailed the new program as a way to connect undocumented immigrants with banks, businesses and city services, such as obtaining health care...(again, emphasis mine)

Great, just great. They are making it easier for illegals to get free health care from my tax dollars? I don't think so! The 'rats want to nationalize health care, which I guarantee you will make it ultimately more expensive, and of lesser quality. It will make it easier for the 'rats to buy more votes with my tax dollars and yours though...

I was going to go to silicon valley for a conference in a couple of months. Now, no. I'm not going to go to an area and spend money, contribute to their local economy, when they are doing things I find laughably stupid and just plain wrong.

I think that sums it up:

We’re forsooked.

national citizenship is being superceded by connection "...with banks, businesses and city services, such as obtaining health care and checking out library books. They also said it will encourage card holders to report crimes to the police without fear of being arrested or deported."

Right before your eyes, ladies and gentleman, a super-nation is being built.

How low the Dow has to go in order to make something emergency issuance of a "banks, business, and city service" credits to these "cardholders" I can't say; and if this the THE big one I don't know but...

I don't like the thoughts such things lead me to think.

Tell me these cards didn’t have Obama’s image on them, OK?

I can’t know God’s plan, but I do know the people who have brought America as we know it to the verge of extinction. The slimy politicians in Washington in both Parties are traitors. They did this with the shell game they have played for a long time.

Republican or Democrat, it makes no difference. The two party system has been a sham. When I look at long time in office politicians like Orin Hatch or Charlie Rangel I see two well groomed traitors. These people are the scum of the earth, but I fear that they have won.

America’s survival is up to God.

Selling I.D. cards to illegal aliens. ISN’T THAT ILLEGAL? Leave it to the homos in S.F. Laws means nothing to them.

The card makes them taxable, silly. That's the only reason to do this. You think the weasels that come up with these schemes are doing it out of charity?

I wonder how many interpreters are required for the applicants who don’t even understand English. San Francisco style uber-liberalism at it’s very worst.

Yes, but since they are legal illegals, it will be OK.
