Hah! absolutely right.

I simply cannot agree with almost anything stated in this article. In fact, I find that much of what is espoused here is the very epitome of what is wrong with Christianity today. A shallowness that only “pop culture” can inspire. We are NOT called to be “relevant”, we are called to stand apart, to preach the Gospel, and not worry about whether or not we “fit in”.

We are called to set the agenda, to establish the dominant paradigms of truth and beauty. When the church sponsored artists, we got the great cathedrals, the Sistine Chapel, etc. Government-sponsored art gave us a guy with a bullwhip up his butt.

To make movies or TV shows, books etc. that have moral messages and obvious Christian leanings is all fine and good, and I applaud the efforts of anyone who can accomplish such a feat, but to feel that we must come up with a “Christian version” of every worldly pleasure (exemplified in so-called “Christian Rock”), which so many think we must do to be “relevant”, or “to get the young people into church” is just wrong. At best, a shallow faith is the result, and at worst, it is just destructive.

Exactly. That’s what Twilight is as well. It got rolled into a movie very quickly.

I was reorganizing my books the other day and ran across The Weapon Shops of Isher by A.E. Van Vogt. Still a great read. Anyhow thanks for the SF information and the link...

I stand in awe! My daughter got me hooked four years ago. I would jump to Barrayar or Komar in a heartbeat. Jackson’s Hole might even be fun.

Have you read Hallowed Hunt? Or any of her fantasy books?
