With just six days left of the Bush presidency, Rep.Dana Rohrabacher and a group of a dozen House members, including Rep. Ed Royce, held a press conference today to again implore the president to pardon or commute the sentences of the two ex-border patrol agents in federal prison for shooting a fleeing drug dealer at the Mexican border.
This prosecution was rotten from day one, said Rohrabacher, R-Huntington Beach, who has been working to free Jose Compean and Ignacio Ramos since they were convicted in 2006. Compeans sister, Claudia Martinez, lives in Huntington Beach. Right now we have a chance to make it right.

What is wrong with this guy, Bush...he has a chance to do something right...make the people who stood up for him the most a little bit happier in these dark days...but no...he just won’t do it and I want to know why.
Lawmakers implore Bush to free ex-border agents:
Why would you want him to pardon two thugs with badges? I think they are no different than that asshole BART officer. They shot an unarmed man, in the back, then lied about it.

I agree with you about Compean. That was attempted murder. Ramos heard the shooting, arrived on the scene and fired at the same suspect his partner was shooting at. I can see how Ramos deseves a pardon but not Compean. I do not understand how they have become folk heroes to so many .
Bush...Worse than Carter??? Close call.
close call my butt!! Carter and Roosevelt are the worst ever....Bush doesn’t even come close.....as Obama takes office, much will be revealed that will shine a new light on GWB
Are you kidding me? The peanut left us with a recoverable situation. After Bush we are down for the count. I voted for the moron twice out of fear of the Crats. NEVER AGAIN. Do you really think Homeland Security works? You are a nut case. They could do anything they want any time. They choose not to. We are self-desructing.
So you think we would have been better off with Gore or Kerry? Think about it then tell me who the moron is!
Years of sending emails should have shown everyone that, except in a few instances, Bush and his friends just aren’t listening.
Therefore, a smarter way to do things is needed. I’ve presented such a smarter way many, many times, but no one wants to actually do something effective.
In this case, start a campaign right now to encourage people to go to McCain’s public appearances and ask him whether he recommends that they be pardonned. The same goes for others like him, like Lindsay Graham, etc. etc.
Get their responses on video and upload it to Youtube.
Note that you have to be careful with the phrasing. You can’t ask them “will you tell Bush to...”, you have to say, “if you were president, would you pardon them?” or similar.
Jimmah was the idiot who got rid of the Shah of Iran and replaced him with the ayatollah (sp) good move.....he governed through the 444 days of our citizens captivity, he took interest rates to the 20 % level and inflation to that same high rate.....he may have been brilliant, but he wasn’t very smart
Excuse me, sir-
(anyone who lands catfish like those has my utmost respect)
You are wrong about the facts of the case, sir.
Please, sir, check this website (www.khow.com/pages/boyles.html)for some of the exculpatory facts Johnny Sutton withheld from the jury.
That ‘unarmed man’, Aldrete-Davila, is currently incarcerated in a federal penitentiary for smuggling a different 800lbs of weed, not that original 750lbs he was carrying when he was interdicted; that original load he was given immunity for, so that he might testify against two agents just doing their jobs.
He’s where he belongs, now let’s get Agents Alfred Dreyfus, I mean, Ramos and Compean, home with their families where they belong.
Sir.
I never said davila was innocent, of course he smuggled drugs. We do not give cops badges so they can execute them. I am not wrong that they shot him in the back or that they tried to cover it up. You know, had they come clean from the get go I doubt they would be where they are.
“You are wrong about the facts of the case, sir.”
Which “facts” is he wrong about?
BTW - I went to the website you posted and could only find two links to World Nut Daily articles. If you’re getting your facts from WND you are sorely misinformed.
I’d also like to know what “exculpatory” facts you believe Sutton withheld from the jury. First, Sutton wasn’t prosecuting attorney, second it was the defense that tried to get info on the allged second load (if that is what you refer) into the trial, the trial Judge refused to allow it since it had absolutley no bearing on whether the shoot by Ramos and Compean that day was a good one. The guy could have have had the pot tied to his back, BP Agents are still not allowed to yank out their weapons and start firing whilly nilly while the perp runs away (Compean shot 15 times at fairly close range...and missed every time).
And they certainly are not allowed to pick up and dispose of the shell casings while telling their supervisors “nuttin’ happened honey”.
Are you still writing fan mail to Aldrete-Davilla?
K U got it. R U believin in the Republicn party? Nahhh.
Non-sense
Gpood cop??? Bad cop ????
You are wrong. (again most respectfully, I showed my little boys those monsters you have hanging, they love catching the little brookies, and would flip to catch a fish as big (or bigger)as they are)
They didn’t shoot him in the back, he was shot in the left buttock, and the bullet passed into his right thigh, consistent with someone turning back to fire a weapon, as the attending physician testified, and as the agents contend.
It also defies belief that an individual who runs drugs for a living would do so without a firearm, and there is testimony (not allowed at trial) by guy who ran the drug dropoff house that “Aldrete-Davila always carried a weapon”.
The supervisors were on scene, no one filed a report, since no injury was apparent. The victim ran back across the border, remarkably dexterously for someone with a gun shot wound.
This case stinks to high heaven, and believe me, I’m not one of the fascist, no-knock, kick in the door at 4AM and-shoot-the-dog-oops-wrong-house type cop apologists.
They did come clean from the beginning, and then two weeks later someone high up in Mexico made some phone calls to someone high up here in the US, and the well know substance flows downhill.
