Attorney General-nominee Eric Holder forcefully broke from the Bush administration's counterterrorism policies Thursday, declaring that waterboarding is torture and pledging to prosecute some Guantanamo Bay detainees in U.S. courts.
As a practical matter, Holder said torture does not lead to reliable intelligence. And on principle, he said the United States needs to live up to its own high standards, even in the face of fear and terrorism.
The incoming Obama administration has not indicated what would happen to the detainees who were transferred to the United States. Holder said the administration was considering prosecuting the detainees in civilian courts, military courts or in some new hybrid court.
He also did not have an answer to how the new administration would handle detainees deemed too dangerous to release but who could not be prosecuted without endangering CIA operatives or jeopardizing intelligence methods.

Sure, let’s bring them to the mainland USA, put ‘em in a big city for their trial, make sure everyone knows where and when they will be tried, and then just act surprised as can be when their buddies mount a terrorist attack to set them free.
Now to a Dimocrap I’m sure that makes perfect sense. Those of us here on FR may hold slightly differing opinions but, hey, we can say “told you so” even though it won’t heal the wounds or bring back those real Americans who will be injured or die in the attack. Sometimes all you can do is shake your head and wonder why some people can’t see and grasp reality.
0be and Holder (Pardoner) are retards wrt the US Constitution.
The terrorists will get taxpayer trials where lawyer cronies defending terrorists will make $5 million per trial.
He's taken money from Islamofascist elements too.
I told if he brings his friends to this district where AlQaida will be trying to bust them out it means war.
Holder obviously hasn’t heard about this little near-incident in Britain involving multiple trans-continental flights. It was averted, thanks to techniques he promises to prosecute. And here’s the problem with putting unlawful enemy combatants into the justice system. According to wikipedia, Mohammad Gulzar was found not guilty on all counts, so he’s out there to fight jihad another day. In one case alone we see that every one of Holder’s stances are bull.

Does anyone know if Holder plans on investigating/prosecuting employees of the Bush administration for saving thousands of American lives by water boarding information out of terrorists?
I wonder how the people that are on the front lines of the WOT feel about this?
The enemy has no rules and the administration has no clue.
This is how utterly stupid and insane democrats have to be.
We’ve had counterterrorism measures that have worked for over 7 years now, and this bamboozling idiot wants to change what’s working!?

Leave D.C. very quickly when the American people rise up and take their country back.
In a Fantasy League for Attorney Generals, do you anticipate that Holder would be drafted before or after the memorable Janet Reno?....Even without remembering who Carter’s AG was, and even before Holder begins, they’d go last, for me. I’d even pick John Mitchell ahead of those two.

What is Holder and Obama going to say WHEN ( NOT "if") we will have an attack on the US that could have been prevented if we interrogated captured terrorists?
"It's Bush's fault!" What else?
Frankly, the glaring absence of any hard questioning of Eric Holder by Republican committee members is as nauseating as it is predictable. They've all gone left and have become useless. The current GOP as represented in congress is pathetic and absolutely spineless. I can't watch them, anymore. Praising leftists and shying away from ruffling the feathers of Obama nominees, even when these people are unqualified. This is now 'business as usual' for Republicans in congress, with a very few exceptions.
This country is screwed. The voters went for the media-driven celebrity candidate - and got him. If I have to hear how the inauguration of Barack Hussein Obama is 'historical' one more time, I'll puke on my TV set. Yeah, he's Black but how many of the people who blindly voted for Obama (not counting the fraudulent votes) really knew what he stood for besides some amorphous 'change'?
Now, we'll all reap the whirlwind of borderline-insane leftist policies that will endanger every American and incompetent political hacks playing 'leader' while they suck their thumbs if this nation is attacked as it was on September 11th, 2001.
I don't even want to think of what the leftists in his administration will do to the U.S. economy with their anti-business policies that usually end up punishing the poor and the middle class they always pretend to care so much about during their campaigns.
Well, American wanted 'change' - and we're going to get it. I'm no fan of Mencken but he did have a point when he wrote: "Democracy is the theory that the common people know what they want and deserve to get it good and hard. Here it comes, folks....good and hard.
Does Holder think burning children to death is torture? (Waco)
Yep, anytime the Prez wants to garner favor with terrorists and their sponsors he can pardon as a goodwill gesture. Why do I feel this president might well break the commandment of not negotiating with kidnappers or terrorists?
Release them in Chicago, preferably in Holder’s neighborhood.
The CIA is going to torture the prisoners, get the information, kill them in a back alley somewhere overseas and when we catch the bad guy, say it was because of good investigative work.
We will only hear about torture when a Republican is in office.
