"With ninety per cent of the existing offshore oil lease lands yet to be exploited, with the inherent dangers of mixing massive oil and gas rigs with delicate ecosystems supporting multiple marine species and with a 26-year history of collective protection of the Georges Bank, it boggles the mind of some to understand the sudden move by the Nova Scotia department of energy to press for an end to the moratorium."

Ye flippin' gods! The lack of knowledge of the "press-titute" class is astounding. "Massive oil and gas rigs" have been working full out "with delicate ecosystems supporting multiple marine species" in the Gulf of Mexico for more close on to 75 years, and the "multiple marine species" LOVE the rigs. They set up shop right in the rig structures, proceed to "do their thing" and multiply. Most of the best fishing is to be found near "massive oil and gas rigs".

I doubt that the "multiple marine species" around Cape Cod will like the oil and gas rigs any less than those in the Gulf of Mexico.

Exactly. The oil rigs would give the fish shelter from the Spanish and Norwegian factory-fishing ships, too, and therefore should be built as soon as possible to help preserve the fishery.
