The sad part is that technically you could be tried for impesonating someone you are not over the internet. There is a law, and it is somewhat draconian if memory serves.

Despite all our comments, jokes, insults to Obama, etc., after reading (day after day) the articles posted on this (my favorite website!) and Fox News are getting to me. Has this country gone completely mad????? The media went off the deep end as to credibility a long time ago with this whole Obamamessiah thing... and the people? Well, the best example I can give stemmed from an article shown on foxnews.com yesterday pertaining to media and libs still trashing Sarah (and planning to continue for the next four years, of course). The article allowed for ‘reader comments’ and the one that blew me away was (paraphrasing here, but awfully close) “who cares about Sarah and her retarded kid anymore.” That was it for me — it says it all in a nutshell. THAT is the IQ level (or just functioning level?) of liberal America. Sarah and her “retarded kid.” Out of the mouths of hideous ignorance and stupidity. Can we truly get any lower than that? Does a place even exist lower than that? This is among the breed that created the ‘Obama’ hysteria. This insanity can only continue for so long. Sometimes it’s pathetic, sometimes it’s just laughable, and sometimes it’s downright dangerous. But America’s situation in general seems to be headed on an apparently unstoppable and fast track to somewhere very, very scary.
Will NBC get fined, if Mathews has an O on air?

Of course they were effective. The media is effective. The insults and slander are effective. The media long ago stopped being ethical, objective, or committed to truth. And the “average American” who relies on the likes of MSNBC to “keep up” with current events is swayed by the hatemongers. My point about the article’s feedback was simply that referring to Sarah Palin’s child with Down’s Syndrome as “the retarded kid” reaches new depths of hideousness, hatred, and stupidity. That example is only one car in what I see as an oncoming trainwreck in this country.
I’ve been reading all the replies to the original post. Y’alls 16 and 17 take the cake :)
