Newsletter Jan. 12,2009

The Texas Border Volunteers, Inc.

Volume 3 Issue 1 Feel free to pass our news to other interested parties.

Please pass on to any friends, relatives, or contacts you may have in Texas. We are about to find out where our legislature really stands on securing the border and stopping the flow of illegal aliens and narcotics into our state.

Fellow Texas Border Volunteers,

In the last TBV Newsletter, I wrote in the TBV Comment Corner about the 2008 Texas Immigration Reform Legislative Summit held in Austin this past October. The underlying message was that if you want to really affect illegal immigration law, all groups must join under one banner for the purpose of getting the legislature's attention.

That message took root and on Jan 28, members of CFIR (Citizens for Immigration Reform) out of Dallas is joining IRCOT (Immigration Reform Coalition of Texas) out of Austin to lobby our legislature under IRCOT's banner.

It would be great if we could get our TBV members, some of which are members of these two groups to join the action on the 28th.

For those in the Dallas -Ft Worth area, a bus will be leaving Farmers Branch early on that date, sponsored by CFIR, and will return back that evening. For those members of TFIR, it would be great if you could get the word out (if it has not gotten out already) to other TFIR members to make the trip. The same applies to you who are members of other groups such as MCDC or US Border Watch et al.

This is the only way we can affect our legislators since we do not have Initiative and Referendum rights to pass our own laws (yet).
