So Yellowstone, the super volcano, is again rumbling? Mercury has been detected throughout the national park (not a good sign) for quite sometime and along with it the ground under Yellowstone Lake is rising.
More than 250 earthquakes reported during a 24-hour period ...
Scientists monitoring Yellowstone have stated that it has entered into what they have described as a "red zone."
Remember Mount St. Helens? The feds warned folks in the region around the mountain to vacate, and most did. Some (a few) didn't.
It's been reported that the feds will issue a vacate order to the inhabitants of Wyoming, if time allows, for such a mass exodus ...
The Yellowstone Caldera is linked to a massive complex of subterranean tunnels that are miles deep in the earth, and which are connected to other volcanic zones such as Mount Shasta in California, Mount Rainier in Washington state and the volcanic caldera located in Bend, Ore., all of which are at this very moment showing signs of seismic activity similar to what Yellowstone is experiencing, that has many in the scientific community pondering as to what it all means.

If it looks like the caldera is going to blow, I would consider heading closer to the epicenter.
The next 10 - 20 years would be a trying time for humanity. Only the very strongest will survive.
Saw it on the made-for-tv disaster movie last year. Boring.
Its not red its green.
YELLOWSTONE VOLCANO (CAVW#1205-01-)
44.43°N 110.67°W, Summit Elevation 9203 ft (2805 m)
Volcano Alert Level: NORMAL
Aviation Color Code: GREEN
Small Earthquake Swarm on 9 January 2009 near northeast corner of Yellowstone Caldera
A currently modest swarm of earthquakes began in the northeast corner of the Yellowstone Caldera, about 10 miles (16 km) NNE of the north end of the Yellowstone Lake swarm that was active in late December and early January. As of 1930 MST, 10 earthquakes had been located by the University of Utah Seismograph Stations, the largest with M= 3.3 and two other events with M >2.0. Located depths are between 2 and 4 km.
Yellowstone Volcano Observatory staff and collaborators are analyzing the data from this and from the earlier Yellowstone Lake swarm and are checking for any changes to the thermal areas located near the epicenters. We will provide further information as it becomes available.
Yellowstone and the cascades are all green this is just fearmongering.
Yeah right, they say its green and then quietly fly thousands of miles away to an underground bunker.
I think some may be over estimating the possible destruction just a tad if it does erupt. However, it would surely destroy some beautiful country in and around Yellowstone.
We have a beautiful view of what remains of Mt. St. Helens from our place, it’s about thirty miles to the north of us. Hopefully it doesn’t erupt again cuz I’m gettin’ too old for that stuff. :)
Uh oh.......
Not sure where the 250 quakes comes from but this is reporting 41 in the last week, most small.
While YNP has a rich history of volcanic activity, I sure hope this place does not go up in rock, dust and lave. It seems the the latest quakes are not under the lake, per the U of Utah seismic study area.
It would make a large mess.
Old Harry Truman had a plan.
not the president.
Al Gore needs to buy my concept of volcano credits to mitigate all effects if an eruption does occur. I could retire and buy my own island if Al Gore pays my price.
I meant “lava”, my fat fingers.
Subterranian tubes connecting Mt. Shasta and Jellystone...wot a crock.
I’m safe here in South Florida, right?
If YS blows, we won’t have to worry about global warming, only the lack of it. Iceland wouldn’t be my first pick on a place to go.
FWIW - if you follow global wind patterns, your #2 choice would be Vladivostok.. do rethink your answer...
We are all moving to your home.
I “think” you would be fine...except for all of your “pals” from Montana and Idaho moving in with you.
The threat level was green on 9/10/2001 too...
