ROFL - When you look at the second choice of primary voters, the vast majority of the ones that picked Huckabee listed McCain as their second choice. His presence did not help McCain. Now, if Romney and Huckabee were not present, Thompson did MUCH better - likely enough to solidify people behind him in the more conservative states. I guess what I'm trying to say is blaming Huckabee for Romney's dismal failure is whistling past the graveyard.

Since nothing is likely to change for the next set of primaries, early liberal voting and the huge cross-over by Dims will leave us with someone Obama can beat. Unless we can get the primaries closed and quit depending upon early liberal states, we are not going improve.
